ILA was contracted by SANRAL to undertake a ground-breaking project involving the first use of landscaping as a traffic calming solution on the R24 route between Rustenburg and Magaliesburg.
The landscape involves a resilient low maintenance planting scheme containing locally indigenous and waterwise plant species with robust hard landscaping elements. The layout of the circles was planned around existing protected tree species such as the Marula tree.
The varying textures and colours of each circle do not only beautify the surroundings but also aid in the slowing down of vehicular traffic in an aesthetically pleasing way.
